Knockin' On Heaven's Door

Hey all, Sunday night at Sanctuary (5:30 remember), we will begin our two week exploration of Heaven. This week we will look at the concept of the "Present Heaven" and next week we will explore our eternal destinati on--the New Heaven and New Earth. Or more simply, this week we will explore "Life after Death," and next week we will explore "Life after Life after Death."

Heaven resources

One of my primary resources for our series If I Die Before I Wake... is the book Heaven by Randy Alcorn. It is the most comprehensive book on the topic I could find, and it came highly recommended. Alcorn has a site specifically for Heaven FAQ's you might find interesting.

In addition, I would highly recommend C. S. Lewis' book The Great Divorce. This is one of the most profound little books on heaven I've ever read. It's a quick read, but it'll rock your world.

Winter Clothing Needed for Kosovo

We have recently heard of a special need from one of our soldiers, Deanna Poling. She is asking for winter jackets, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, sweat shirts and baby clothes for the people living in Kosovo.  The weather is very similar to ours. Deanna writes, " . . .  178 kids going without basic necessities . . .  it's like some kids walking from crossroads to park high school in a t-shirt and a cloth".   "There are 88 kids alone from 1st grade to 9th grade in my poorest neighborhood and almost none of them have coats or warm clothes.  There are 90 adults in this same neighborhood and half of them are women who do not have coats, warm clothes or even regular shoes. They are always wearing slippers in the snow. Almost all the women are small or medium but some can sew to alter clothes."
