THIS monday NIGHT: meal group launch

God has designed us for community. Meal Groups are small groups of 8-12 people gathering together to share a meal, discover God’s word, pray and serve. Meal Group registration will be available Sunday night with a Meal Group dinner ($7.00) and launch the last Monday of September at 6:30 pm. Hope you’ll be there.

SANCTUARY FALL RETREAT

The following is my text from my message last Sunday night, What Would Jesus Say to Barack Obama? I thought it might be interesting for people to interact with it. I should note this series was inspired by Shane Claiborne and Chris Haw's book Jesus for President. For those who like to get their theological geek on, thinking within my message was inspired by theologians Cornelius Plantinga, John Howard Yoder, Stanley Hauerwas, and Miroslav Volf. Here ya' go...

Welcome to Sanctuary. We are in our third week of our series, Jesus for President. Like I said last week, I have three campaign promises for this series:   

1. I promise to make you mad at some point. Some of you have complained I haven’t made you mad yet. Well, tonight may be your night!
2. I promise to read every e-mail you send me. I will thank you for it but that’s about the only response you’ll get. I’m not going to spend all week arguing politics with everyone.
3. I promise not to endorse one candidate over another. Like I’ve said, I think both candidates could be very effective presidents.
