Resources for IN GOD WE TRUST...

Thought it might be helpful to let everyone know what resources are inspiring me as I work on the IN GOD WE TRUST series. First of all, I have to give a shout-out to Pastor Phil. There are few people I know who manage their money better than Phil and his wife Laurel. His teaching over the years has definitely influenced me as well as some messages from Pastor Haddon Robinson and a Pastor named Jarrrett Stevens. Second of all, the ripple effect of Shane Claiborne's Irresistible Revolution continues to haunt me. And at present I am reading Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger by Dr. Ron Sider. It's a classic on the subject.

I'm glad we're going on this journey. This week we'll be taking the next step in the journey of what it means to "seek first the kingdom" with our money. The message is entitled Making Change.

IN GOD WE TRUST--Finding God in an Affluent Culture

Everyone of our dollar bills declares a faith for our nation--IN GOD WE TRUST. But do we? Do we really trust God more than money? The recent hurricanes hitting Wall Street indicate we are a country with a misplaced faith. Join throughout October at Sanctuary as we search for God in the richest nation in the world.

True Heroes Needed
True heroes are those who work with our kids in our Crosswalk Ministry!  The YES they say to volunteering changes them and changes the life of a child.  Here's my bold ask:  Will you say YES to volunteering for the rest of the summer?  Our regular crew needs a break between now and fall.  There are dozens of opportunities, something for everyone.

Will you be a true hero?  Email us at kidscrosswalk@qwest.net and we'll find a place for you to make a difference in a child's life.

The Sanctuary 411

SUNDAY NIGHT: ONE INVITATION
Imagine receiving an invitation in the mail. You open the envelope and the card says, “I’m restoring a broken world. You’re invited to join me in this effort. Will you join me? Love, God.” How will you respond to God invitation not just to be His child, but to join Him in His mission? Join us Sunday night as we join God in His mission for this the world.

SUNDAY’S BARBECUE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR A LATER DATE.
Due to unforeseen circumstances Sunday’s barbecue will be postponed until later in the summer.

IS SANCTUARY PART OF YOUR BUDGET YET?
We know the summer months are filled with vacations, home improvement, etc. but as you budget for your summer, please don't forget your giving to God's ministry at CrossRoads. Everything from the communion bread to the air conditioning to the staff's salaries is paid for by our church community. If you haven't yet made giving to God's work a part of your budget, remember God loves a cheerful giver! Checks can be made out to CrossRoads Church with "Sanctuary" in the memo line. If you are out of town, don't hesitate to use our online giving.

ONE CHURCH, TWO LOCATIONS
CrossRoads Church is moving forward on launching our campus in Eagan on September 28th!  In the next 2 weeks CrossRoads will hire an Eagan Campus Pastor, order new sound, audio, and media equipment, and continue to meet and connect with those at BridgePointe.

Starting in August we will begin to lead the services there.  On August 3 I will be speaking and Terry Foss will be leading worship.  Terry will continue leading most of the services in Eagan and James Brown will do the majority of the speaking there.

Ryan Lunceford will handle the bulk of worship leading at our main services at our Cottage Grove/Woodbury campus.  Jordan Lindstedt will lead worship at Sanctuary.

TRUE HEROES NEEDED
Tue heroes are those who work with our kids in our Crosswalk Ministry!  The YES they say to volunteering changes them and changes the life of a child.  Here’s my bold ask:  will you say YES to volunteering for the rest of the summer?  Our regular crew needs a break between now and fall.  There are dozens of opportunities… something for everyone.

Some Big Decisions...

The following is from our Sr. Pastor, Phil Print's blog.

Crossroads is facing some "crossroads" of its own these days.  Let me spell them out:

1. Do we launch our first satellite campus in Eagan? A church in Eagan (BridgePointe) is looking into the option of merging with us and becoming "Crossroads, Eagan." It would be "us" in Eagan--our style, our DNA, our teaching team, our worship, etc. with some minor tweaking. This is a huge step for both churches. It's risky, messy, and painful. But, it's also a proven way to expand God's kingdom. The potential for reaching thousands more for Christ is there. So...do we do it?

2. Do we keep our current campus and make it our second satellite campus? Call it "Crossroads, Cottage Grove"? Again, our DNA with a different flavor. Our plan has been to sell our Cottage Grove facility. Although we've had a lot of lookers no one has shown us any cash. Is this God's way of telling us to keep the campus and use it for His glory? This is a huge decision. The financial strain it would put on us would be noticeable. But the potential to reach more people for Christ would be there. So...do we keep it?

We're asking the Crossroads family to pray heartily this month. We want to make decisions that are bathed in prayer and led by God's Spirit. Our goal is to get our leaders together the end of May and make the right decision.

Pray for clarity and discernment. Pray that our staff and Elders hear God's voice. Specifically, we're asking everyone to pray during your normal prayer times and pray in your Meal Groups. We're also asking for special times of prayer coupled with fasting on Tuesdays in May. Why fast and pray? It's Biblical... specifically in times needing God's guidance. Abstain from one or more meals for the next 3 Tuesdays and pray during that time.

Feel free to ask questions or add your comments.
